Ema login modernizing medicine8/23/2023 While the EMA systems can already be seen as a useful tool to have in your practice, Dr Sayed believes EMA systems will become a ‘game-changer’ for healthcare providers across multiple specialties once the tenth revision of the International Statistical Classifications of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-10) is introduced. He brings both his knowledge of the day-to-day running of a practice and his understanding of a range of computer codes to his role as Medical Director of Electronic Medical Assistant® (EMA) Plastic Surgery.Ĭreated by Modernizing Medicine®, the EMA systems are a cloud based, specialty-specific electronic medical record system with a library of built-in medical content, designed to save the physician’s time during patient consultations and the billing process. Buyer beware!!! Do not purchase this EMR.Dr Tim Sayed is certainly multi-talented a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 10 years of practice experience, as well as an undergraduate background in electrical engineering and computer science. I believe there is some sort of glitch between this EMR and the built-in Dragon dictation function. So, to me this is an unrealistic request bc I often close my notes after hours at home in the evenings or weekends or am trying to close them as quickly as I can while keeping up with a very busy schedule during the day so I can spend more time with my wife and 3 kids on the weekend. When I contact support, all they can tell me is that they have to witness it happening in order to figure out to fix it. You should never have to doubt your EMR and be concerned about this ever happening. I have never, ever encountered this before in any other EMR system I used during clinical rotations in medical school, residency, or fellowship training. There have been a few of these instances where I will have to repeat this entire process three times before the system will actually save what I dictated. So, I end up coping every dictation even before I hit save so that I can then go back and paste back in the Impression and Plan section if or when it doesn’t save. This only happens about 15% of the time after I’m about to finalize and sign my note which you can imagine is a huge letdown. As you might imagine, this opens the door to future lawsuits if there is an unexpected critical lab or radiological image finding you don’t know has resulted for a week or even a month since these are sometimes ordered at outside facilities and don’t know when the patient has been scheduled for the test.įinally, the most infuriating thing is that my dictation within the Impression and Plan section will sometimes not save. So, unfortunately, I am not notified by the EMR when the results of my orders are back. We are constantly having to scan in image reports and lab results rather than it coming into an in-basket for physician review. I honestly think it’s because this EMR was originally developed for a dermatology practice.Īlso, I didn’t realize until after we purchased this system that there are extra costs of certain features that other EMR’s provide as part of the basic package fee. This has been very frustrating! I haven’t had this issue with other EMR’s such as Athena, Centricity, or Epic. I often spend an extra five minutes on about 25% of my clinic visit notes just trying to find the correct diagnosis code for common issues seen in an orthopedics outpatient clinic. Usability features on the iPad is handy, however finding an ICD 10 diagnosis code can sometimes be very difficult and time consuming.
